CAR FIRE ON MAPLE ST
8/27/2006 - At 1718 hours, Engine 69-6 and Rescue 69 were alerted to a car fire
at 1431 Maple St.  Dep. 69B (Kisch) arrived and gave a working car fire report.  
Rescue 69 arrived and knocked down the bulk of the fire. Moments later Engine 6
arrived, pulled off the booster line and extinguished what remained.  Pottstown 5
released the units about 30 minutes later.
BEECH ST BEDROOM FIRE
8/26/2006 - Around 0130 hours, a building fire assignment was toned out for
431 Beech St.  Montco dispatch advised that a bedroom was on a fire and the
tenants were evacuating. Seconds later, the engine from Empire arrived
confirmed a working fire in the bedroom.  Crews located a mattress on fire in
one of the 2nd floor bedrooms. The fire was quickly knocked down, while other
members checked for extension.  Command released the department in about
45 minutes.
KITCHEN FIRE ON MANATAWNY ST
8/24/2006 - At 2330 hours, crews were sent to 220 Manatawny St for a building
fire. The occupant advised the 911 dispatcher that there was a grease fire and it
was spreading onto the walls.  Ladder 69 pulled up with nothing evident from the
outside.  Entering crews were meet with heavy smoke conditions and found that
they fire was out. Units vented, performed some overhaul and cleared a short
time later.
LINCOLN AVE KITCHEN FIRE
8/13/2006 - Sometime around 2100 hours, crews loaded the engine and headed
to 422 Lincoln ave for a kitchen fire. Engine 69-6 (Empire), arrived with smoking
showing from the Alpha side. Crews started stretching attack lines while Squirt
69 (North End) picked up the hydrant at Franklin and Lincoln. Crews stretched
hand lines through heavy smoke and found that the stove and the area's
around it were burnt out but extinguished by the homeowner prior to fire dept
response.
FIRE AT BUILDING 40
8/7/2006 - Just after 0100 hours, units were alerted to 40 High St, The
Guardian apartments for a fire in the hallway. Ladder 69 went on scene with
nothing showing from the front of the building. After entry, a pile of trash was
found burning in the hallway.  Crews were able to knock the fire down with a
water can. After the fire marshal arrived and completed his investigation the
units cleared.
SMALL FIRE IN ROW HOME
8/11/2006 - Just prior to 1700 hours, units responded to 431 Walnut St for a  
reported abandoned building on fire. The caller stated that he saw smoke and
flames from the rear of the vacant row home.  Engine 69-6 arrived with smoke
showing from the middle of the row. Crews stretched an attack line and located a
vacuum cleaner that a juvenile set on fire in the rear of the building.  Units
cleared in about 25 minutes.   
SCORCHING HEAT BRINGS 2 ALARM FIRE
8/3/2006 - At 1739 hours, the county toned a building fire response for 516 N
Evans St.  Asst 69B arrived on Evans St and reported there was no problem at
the address given and recalled the units. While returning Rescue 69 was
flagged down a pedestrian who stated the fire was at 516 N Franklin St.  After
advising the other units of the correct address, the operator entered the building
and located a fire in the kitchen on the 2nd fl. After the other units arrived,
several attack lines were put in service to battle the fire which spread throughout
the 2nd fl and extended into the 3rd fl. Several stand-by companies were sent to
various boro stations, while Rescue 34 was called to the scene with their
manpower.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
8/1/2006 - At 1800 hours, the Firefighters of Empire participated in the
National night out activities. Crews loaded the grills up and headed one block
east to one of the worse area's in Montgomery Cty, the Washington St
corridor. Crews grilled up hundreds of hot dogs, hamburgers, and pieces of
chicken for the participants free of charge. A good time was had by all.
