FIRST HOMICIDE OF THE YEAR

2/8/2007 - Shortly after 2100 hours, Goodwill ambulance and Pottstown Police
responded to 35 King for a male found stabbed in the alley. Police arrived and found a
man brutally stabbed but still alive. Engine 69-4 was dispatched a short time later for lz
duty. The victim was flown to an area tramua center were succumbed to his injuries.
2/21/07 - Around 23:30 hours, Engine 69-4 was assigned to a dumpster fire in
the 300 Blk of Beech St. The engine arrived and confirmed the report given by police.
The engine cleared in about 15 minutes. Shortly after returning to the station, a building
assignment was toned out. This brought Ladder 69, Engine 69-6, Rescue 69 and Squirt
69. The ladder arrived to find that a door leading to an apartment was off. Units
extinguished the door and cleared within a few minutes. While returning to the Station,
Squirt 69 came upon another dumpster fire at 3rd and Hanover. Engine 69-6 stopped by
and assisted the crews on scene.
BASEMENT OFF ON THE WEST SIDE

1/29/07 - At 12:00 hours Station 69 was alerted to 524 W. Chestnut Street for a reported
basement fire. Pottstown 5 went on location reporting smoke showing from the rear of the
building. Pottstown 5 then relayed to the county that this was an active fire in the
basement. Crews entered the basement and put a quick knock on the fire within a
matters of minutes. Additional crews put fans in service and opened windows throughout
the residence to ventilate. Units cleared the basement fire at 13:42 hours.
1/22/07 - At 7:53 hours Rescue 69 and
Engine 69-6 were dispatched to Armand
Hammer Blvd & Queen Street for a
reported vehicle rescue. County came
back also reporting that the car had wires
down on it and was on fire with the driver
and passengers still inside. Units arrived
on location and firefighters extinguished
the fire and found that everyone had made
it out safely with no serious injuries. 69
Units cleared at 9:27 hours. The roadway
remained closed until around 2130 hours.
CHERRY LANE BASEMENT FIRE

1/26/07 - At 18:01 Station 69 was alerted to 1467 Cherry Lane for a reported
basement fire. Deputy 69-D went on location reporting nothing showing. Deputy 69-D
came back reporting a heavy smoke condition in the residence and that there was a
small fire in the basement. Units extinguished the fire and ventilated the residence. Units
were cleared around 18:24 hours.
MAN SOUGHT IN ATTEMPTED MURDER

2/22/2007 - Just before the start of a new day Pottstown Police and Goodwill ambulance were
sent out to a shooting after a home invasion in the 0 block of Union alley. Police arrived and
began to secure the residence. After a few moments it was determined that the victim of the
home invasion ran off and was being chased by the actor(s). Police recovered several shell
casing inside the home. Goodwill cleared the scene but returned a short time later to tend to
traumatized family members that were inside the home when the shots rang out. Fortunately
no one was injured. Anyone with information regarding this incident are asked to contact
Pottstown Police.
2/26/07 - Crews were once again busy running trash fires. Just before midnight, Engine
69-4 and Rescue 69 were tied up on a trash fire behind 161 N Hanover. Within minutes of
that dispatch another call for a dumpster fire came in at 3rd and Hanover. The reporting
party stated that he heard a loud explosion and saw a shadow running away from the
dumpster. Pottstown Police officers were in the area came across a 3rd trash fire at York
and 3rd. Two males were stopped in the area and were found to have container of lock
de-icer, a highly flammable substance, and a box of matches. They were taken back to
Pottstown Police department were they confessed to lighting 10 fires in the borough.
CAMPER TRAILER OFF ON ROLAND ST

2/27/07 - At 21:23 hours 69 Units were
alerted to 313 S. Roland Street for a reported
vehicle fire. Police went on scene reporting a
camping trailer fully involved to the rear of
that address with exposure to the house.
Crews put a handline in service and the fire
was extinguished. The trailer was completely
burned out and the porch on the rear of the
house encountered minimal fire damage.
Units cleared at 22:33 hours
