3 ALARM FIRE ON TERRACE LANE
|
6/26/2006 - At 0820 hours, a building fire assignment was put out for Mervine
and Terrace. Squirt 69, went on the scene four minutes later and reported
heavy fire from the front of the building. Prior to fire department arrival,
neighbors found a male resident lying on the B/C side of the building after he
jumped from a 2nd floor bedroom. EMS packaged the patient and rushed him to
a local trauma center where he suffers from a fractured lower vertebrae. Initial
attack crews went into service and were greeted by heavy fire throughout the
1st floor. While knocking down the fire on the 1st floor, a crew was sent to the
2nd floor were they encountered heavy heat and fire. A roof team was
established and made quick work of opening up. The fire was placed under
control about 40 minutes later. Crews spent several hours performing overhaul
operations due to heavy fire spread in the walls and large amounts of property
accumulated by the residents.
6/20/2006 - Just when you thought you've heard everything. While a newspaper
carrier was delivering The Mercury to homes in the west of town he had an
unusual encounter with a four legged creature. Much to his surprise a 4'
alligator hissed and lunged at him. After hurrying back to his vehicle, he
contact the police who responded and began searching the area. At first, they
were unable to locate the gator. As they were about to clear, the alligator was
spotted strolling across the street by a PPD officer. PPD officers were able to
capture the alligator and give it a temporary home in a hold cell until someone
could come get it. Hopefully we'll have pictures soon so everyone can see.

FF STECK STOPS BY FOR A VISIT
|
6/19/2006 - After a few week stay, FF
Gary "OX" Steck had to leave us and
head back home to Ohio. Although,
the borough's been slow it's been an
absolute pleasure having him back in
town and around the firehouse. We
all hope to see you back at the
firehouse soon.
6/17/2006 - Instead of hearing various disturbances and gunshots in the
neighborhood the sound of a helicopter flying overhead echoed. PPD officers
along with the Montgomery Cty Drug Task Force and the Army National
Guard helicopter were out in force ridding the corners of drug dealers, even if
it was just for the time being. Numerous arrested were made and the
neighborhood remained calm.
