7/20/2007 - After a grueling 26 weeks at the Loudon
County Fire and Rescue acedemy Firefighter Andrew
Leightcap graduated on Friday evening. Andrew
spent several years as a Firefighter with Empire. After
leaving, Andrew joined Company 9, Blandensburg in
Prince George county Maryland where he eventually
became a line office. Several of Andrew's close
friends from the boro, along with members of
Bladensburg attended his graduation. Andrew will
spend the next several months at Company 3,
assigned to Medic 3 as the chauffeur. The members
of Empire Hook and Ladder congratulate and wish
you the best of luck with your new career.

7/16/2007 - Around 2020 hours, a building assigned was dispatched for 774 N Charlotte St,
the North end laundromat. 69ACD ( Reinert) went in the area with smoke showing. Squirt
69 arrived, went into service and knocked the fire down within minutes. Chief lengel cleared
the units around 2100 hours.

7/15/2007 - Just before 1600 hours, units were
alerted to the 500 block of union alley for a
garage on fire. Engine 69-6 arrived with fire
pushing from the garage. Crews made a quick
attack on the fire and had it under control within
minutes. Units cleared about an hour later.
7/10/2007 - After many months of
waiting, the new Quint 69 backed into
the station around 1800 hours. The
members of Empire were excited and
pleased when they finally saw the truck
rolling down Chestnut St towards the
firehouse. The truck should go into
service within the next couple of weeks
after tools have been mounted and the
training course(s) have been completed.

7/31/07 - At 14:07 hours, the department was dispatched to 269 Beech Street for a reported
house on fire. County advised smoke from the 2nd floor & flames from the rear apartment at
265 Beech St. Ladder 69 arrived with smoke showing from the rear. Crews went into service
and knocked the fire down within minutes. The department clear around 1601 hours.
EARLY MORNING FIRE ON WALNUT ST

8/6/2007 - At 0638 hours, a building fire assignment was sounded for 29 Walnut St. Dispatch
advised there was an alarm sounding in the background, a subject coughing into the phone
and people yelling in the background about a fire. While units checked up more calls were
received from other residents stating there was possible entrapment and people were climbing
out windows. Ladder 69 arrived with fire showing and confirmed that there was no
entrapment. As other units arrived, search and suppression op's began. An aggressive
attack was made and the fire was under control in about 15 minutes. In the end, 2 fire fighters
were treated for minor injuries. Unites cleared around 0824.
813/2007 - Around 1215 hours, a building fire dispatch sounded for 379 Apple St. Engine 69-6
arrived and reported a working fire inside the apartment. Crews went into service and knocked
the fire down within minutes. Command cleared the department in about an hour.
8/20/2007 - At 1851 hours, a general alarm for
an unknown type was sounded for Keim and
Cross. As Engine 69-6 and Ladder 69 checked
up more calls were received for a building fire at
861 Cross St. Chief 69-C upgraded the response
and went on location with a working warehouse
fire. Chief C (Gebhard), requested a 2nd
assignment instantly. Pottstown 5 (Legnel),
arrived and struck a 3rd alarm. Within 10 minutes
after the first units arrived the fire was through the
roof. Several outside department responded and
assisted with placing the fire under control.
Command placed the fire under control at 2045
hours. Engine 69-4, Ladder 69, Squirt 69 and AIr
69 remained on scene overnight under the
command of 69ACA until the Fire Marshall
returned in the morning to start his investigation.
ONE STABBED ON MADISON ST

8/4/2007 - At 2043 hours, ems was sent to 95 S Madison St for a reported stabbing. Police
arrived and found a female with a single stab wound to the buttocks. After securing the secure,
EMS packaged the victim and transported her a local hospital for treatment.

8/16/2007 - Around 2350 hours, Pottstown Police responded to 415 Walnut St for a large fight.
The first arriving found a female stabbed. EMS was requested a short time later. The victim
taken to a local hospital treatment.
826/2007 - At 2303 hours, EMS was dispatched to 318 N State St, The State St Tavern for a
stabbing victim. Police arrived and found a subject stabbed to the face. EMS Arrived, packaged
and transported the subject to an area hospital for treatment.
